MATT BUSCH TO WRITE, DIRECT ALADDIN 3477
Notorious Artist Matt Busch has confirmed that he is currently writing a script for Aladdin 3477, which he will also direct. Busch is mostly known for nearly 20 years of illustrative work in the Star Wars universe, having produced hundreds of products for the “galaxy far, far away…” Fitting, since Aladdin 3477 has been described as having an epic look and feel, similar to the grandest of all science fiction properties.
No stranger to filmmaking, Busch spent much of the 90’s working in Hollywood in all aspects of production on films like Con-Air and The Matrix. His directorial debut was Conjure, which in 2006 became the highest pre-selling horror movie of all-time, according to HorrorMovies.com. Comments Busch, “Critically, people either loved it or hated it. I really experimented and tried to do something different, which is what some applauded me for. Either way, it was a great learning experience, and I’m proud of what I was able to do with the limited resources I had.”
Since then, rather than jumping directly into producing another feature-length movie, Busch sharpened his teeth on over 30 video shorts and documentaries for clients ranging as vast as Lucasfilm, DC Comics, and even the President of the United States. The biggest accomplishment has been producing three solid seasons of You Can Draw Star Wars. “The Star Wars videos have been an incredible learning experience for me,” Busch explains, “because each episode has a different visual flavor.”
It’s an idea and story I’ve been developing in one form or another since college. It’s always been in the back of my mind.
Which leads to Busch’s alma mater, Aladdin 3477, a project he has been devising for two decades. “It’s an idea and story I’ve been developing in one form or another since college. It’s always been in the back of my mind. Any professional experience I’ve had in the last 20 years has led me to this point.” And thus, a new chapter in Busch’s career begins!
