A Peek at the ALADDIN 3477 Cast and Crew Party!
Recently, a Cast and Crew party was held to celebrate the upcoming live-action shoot for Aladdin 3477! Principle Photography is just weeks away, and what a better way to kick it off than for Director Matt Busch and his wife, Producer Lin Zy (who is also playing the character Oomi in the film) to throw a bash at their home studios in Macomb Township, Michigan.
One of the attractions that proved to be a hit was the newest addition to Matt’s guilty pleasure old-school arcade: a pair of Mario Kart Arcade 2 machines. Here, Aladdin himself, Erik Steele gets shredded by his game gal Terri. Matt comments that collecting the games of his youth have nothing to do with a mid-life crisis, and everything to do with feeling young and trying to retain that child-like wonderment as a creative artist. Suuuuure, whatever you say, Matt! (Actually, that’s a pretty good answer.)
Many of the Actors and Actresses in Aladdin 3477 got to meet each other for the first time at the party. Here, Actress Christi Perovski and Actor Jon Rick (who did run into each other previously at the Kaleidoscope Koi Soundstage a few weeks prior) ponder on what an intense shooting schedule the summer has in store for them. It has already been announced that Christi is portraying Princess Kamala in the film, while Jon is playing a character named Brej, another street rat thief who happens to be Aladdin’s best friend.
Nearly all of the actors and actresses in the upcoming film were present, as were most of the crew. Seeing everyone in the same place at the same time was nothing short of awesome, considering how well everyone got along. You’d think that everyone had already been working together for months! The party went on until nearly 4 a.m.!
To be fair, some of the actors, actresses and crew did already know each other, having worked on previous projects together or just knowing each other from ‘the biz.’ Here, Brandon Gallo (who plays a character named Bang in the film) and David Qasawa (who plays a character named T Rox) were already friends and are excited to not only be working on the same movie, but realizing their characters share a lot of screen time. And when they see this, they’ll be even more excited when they see that they were photobombed at the party by the notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett!
While somewhat under the radar, a relatively complete list of all the actors, actresses and crew has recently been listed on IMDb! You can check out the full Aladdin 3477 page here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3460068/ and see some of the past credentials some of the amazing cast and crew have.
Not only did all of the pros working on the upcoming movie get to meet each other, but many got to meet the pro’s friends, family, or significant others. Here, we see actress Sareeya McNally with her super nice husband Jeff.
But enough about the people, what was the party really like? The exclusive party favor was a new Aladdin 3477 1-inch wristband that glows in the dark! The wirstbands feature the full title logo on both sides, as well as 2 symbols prominent in the movie. These will be available to the public later this Fall, but when you see it, it’s a must-have!
Another big hit was the treats. Lin Zy, who fully admits she doesn’t know how to cook, sure can bake up a storm! The biggest delight were her exotic cake pops, all decorated in Aladdin-themed colors. Some were even shaped as stars! She also made sugar ccokies shaped like start and wine bottles, with edible labels that said “8 2 Go” on them- a mysterious reference to the upcoming movie. Lin Zy even made chocolate suckers shaped like Hollywood movie clap boards. With plenty of other munchies and goodies brought by others, no one went home hungry, that’s for sure!
One of the evening’s unexpected surprises was when Prop Builder and Visual FX Makeup expert (and 501st Legion of Stormtroopers member) Rob Miller showed up with a working prototype for… Well… You’ll have to wait a bit longer to see more, but here you can catch a quick glimpse of an excited Erik Steele interacting with it! Seriously- wait until you see this!
The evening went on… Everyone shared fun war stories of the past, enjoyed the cozy present, and dreamed about the exciting future of things to come. The bond created was wonderful, and the Aladdin 3477 Family was born.
However- no party would be complete without a little loud rock ‘n roll to spice things up! An eclectic entourage from FiXT Records showed up, including Klayton of Celldweller, Bret of Blue Stahli and Social Media and Promotions guru Josh Danforth.
It wasn’t long before Klayton, Matt Busch, Sound Designer Ric Viers, Jedi Knight Plo Kloon and Bret took the stage (the recording studio live room) and treated everyone to a set of past, present, and future hits!
There are rumors of FiXT’s involvement with Aladdin 3477. While nothing is yet announced, you’d be silly not to learn more about the incredible music of Celldweller and Blue Stahli. Their YouTube Channels are especially impressive, with new episodes of content collectively airing 5 times a week! Be sure to check out and subscribe to Celldweller‘s channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/celldweller and Blue Stahli‘s channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/bluestahli
Of course, much of the evenings festivities were captured on video by Steve “Oz” Pankotai, who is the official behind-the-scenes documentarian for Aladdin 3477. So you may be seeing footage soon! With the movie shooting this summer, this may have been the first Cast and Crew party, but it certainly won’t be the last. Look forward to being a fly on the wall as the production goes on and the creative riots ensue. More soon!
